An erection runs on the calm half of your nervous system, so the second you start monitoring it, you kill it. This is the five-move reset that gets you out of your head and back into your body, tonight.

What you'll learn:
✔ How to crowd out the anxious thoughts instead of fighting them
✔ Where to aim your attention so arousal actually shows up

Welcome To Talk Sex

SPEAKER_00

I'm Annette Benedetti, host of the podcast formerly known as Locker Room Talk and Shots. The show has a new name, Talk Sex with Annette. But at its core, this is still your locker room. It's where we strip away shame, get curious, and speak the unspoken about sex, kink dating, pleasure, and desire. Around here, nothing's off limits. These are the kinds of conversations we save for our boldest group chat, our most trusted friends, and of course, the women's locker room. Think raw, honest, and sometimes unapologetically raunchy. Welcome to my podcast where desire meets disruption and pleasure becomes power. Let's talk about sex. Cheers. Today's talk sex for the net topic is performance anxiety is ruining your sex life. Here's the five-move reset. You are in bed with a woman you wanted badly, and your body wouldn't cooperate. Here's what was actually happening, and it isn't what you think. An erection is not something you do, it's something your body allows when it feels safe. It runs on the calm half of your nervous system, the same half that handles rusting and digestion. Anxiety runs on the other half, the alarm half. So the second you start monitoring whether it's going to work, your body floods with adrenaline, your blood vessels tighten, and it physically cannot do the thing you're standing over it demanding. Which means all that effort you're pouring into making it work is a thing making it not work. You're not trying too little, you're trying way too hard at the exact task we're trying is the problem. And that's a skill you can learn. And it has steps that you can run tonight. So today

Why Anxiety Shuts You Down

SPEAKER_00

I'm giving you the five move reset, how to drop back in your body the second you feel yourself leaving it, where to aim your attention instead of at yourself, the one sentence that takes pressure out of the entire room, why the goal you're chasing is a thing generating the fear, and the tools that quietly take the whole question off the table so your head has nothing left to chew on. But before we dive in, I'm going to remind you that I'm over on OnlyFans and there I'm sharing my sex and intimacy, how-tos, demos, and audio guided self-pleasure meditations. You can also ask me all your one-off questions there. You can find me there with my handle at Talk Sex with the Net. You can find me on Substack doing a whole lot of the same thing with my handle at Talk Sex with the Net. And you can scroll down to the links below to find me anywhere and everywhere you want to find me. I can't wait to see you there. But for now, let's dive in to that five-step reset that's going to get you out of your head and back into your body. Cheers. Let's talk about the loop first. Over half of men past 40 are dealing with some version of performance anxiety. And almost none of them know that the thing making it worse isn't their body. Here's the number. In the largest long-term study we have on aging men, 52% of men over 40 reported some degree of erection trouble. Over half. And a complete difficulty tripled

Where To Find More Help

SPEAKER_00

between 40 and 70. So if you are past 40 and something has changed, you're not the exception. You're the majority, which is exactly why what happens next matters so much. Because here's how it usually goes. There's one night where your erection doesn't work the way it always has. Maybe you were exhausted, maybe you had a few too many to drink. Maybe your body is genuinely changing, which it does. And circulation at 55 is not circulation at 25. Fine. That part is normal. And on its own, it's manageable. Then comes the second night. And on the second night,

The Performance Anxiety Loop

SPEAKER_00

part of your brain is watching. Sex therapists have a name for this: spectatoring. You're not in the experience anymore. You're hovering above it, grading yourself in real time. And that's where a small physical change turns into a full shutdown. There's a whole body of research on what happens next. And it's the backbone of how sex therapists treat this. What it shows is that anxiety during sex drags your attention onto your own performance and away from erotic cues, not away from sex, away from the hot parts of sex. Her skin, her sounds, her mouth, the smell of her, all the input your arousal actually runs on. And when your attention leaves those hues, your arousal follows it right out the door. Then the loop closes. Anxiety pulls your attention off of her and onto you. Attention on you means adrenaline. Adrenaline tightens the blood vessels. The thing you're anxiously watching, your firmness starts to fade, which proves the fear is right, which makes more anxiety, which pulls even more attention. It feeds itself and it will run for years if nothing interrupts it. And here's the thing about a loop like that it doesn't run on facts, it runs on a story. And the story is always some version of my body doesn't work anymore. You can't argue that down from inside your own head at two in the morning. What kills it is evidence, which is the reason I like the firm tech cream. You've heard me talk about it before, actually tracks how many erections you're getting and how long they hold, including overnight while you're asleep. Walking into the next night, knowing you had three cycles of firmness in your sleep isn't a pep talk. It's proof. And a catastrophic story cannot survive proof. Guessing is what anxiety feeds on. Knowing is what shuts it up. So understand what you're up against. The physical piece might be completely real, but the anxiety is a multiplier. It's what turns manageable change into an unmanageable one. And it's the part you have the most power over tonight. So here are my five moves. This is the reset. Move one is crowded out. Everyone tells you to relax and clear your head. And that advice is worthless because don't think about your erection is still a thought about your erection. You cannot empty your head on command. Every attempt to think your way out is more thinking. What actually works is filling it with something better. And there's only one thing in that room strong enough to do that. Her. So flood yourself. Get your mouth on her neck and stay there long enough to feel her pulse change. Put your face against her skin and actually smell her. That's not a small thing. Scent runs straight into the oldest, least verbal part of your breathe and doesn't wrap anywhere near the part that's been grading you. Drag your open hand slowly down her back and feel every place her body answers you. Taste her wherever you are. Get your hands and her hair. Find the exact moment her breathing goes ragged and stay on whatever caused

The Five-Move Reset Starts Here

SPEAKER_00

it. You're not coming down, you're crowding out. There's

Move 1 Crowd It Out

SPEAKER_00

no room left for the checklist. When your mouth is full of her and your hands are busy and you're chasing a sound that she just made. And here's why this works when breathing exercises alone don't. Your nervous system decides whether you're safe based on what you feed it. Feed it threat, self-monitoring, worst-case scenarios, and it braces. Feed it her heat, her taste, her skin, her sound, and it stands down because nothing in that input says danger. You're not talking yourself out of the anxiety. You're drowning it out. If you want a physical anchor on top of the flood, make your exhale longer than your inhale. That's one of the few direct switches into the calm half of your nervous system. The half interaction actually runs on. Four counts in through the nose, six to eight counts out through the mouth, twice while your mouth stays on her. That's the whole skill. Catch yourself leaving and then go somewhere better than where your head was trying to take you. Move two is read her. Don't read yourself. There are two bodies in that bed, and you're studying the wrong one. That's the entire problem in one sentence. Men who struggle with this aren't less attracted and they aren't less capable. Their attention is pointed inward at their performance instead of outward at her. And arousal lives entirely out there. Aim your attention away from her and you starve the exact thing you're trying to grow. So aim it at her deliberately and get specific. Find out which touch makes her hips move and which one makes her go completely still. Learn what happens when you cut your speed in half. Watch her face when you do the thing she likes. Then do it again exactly the same way. Treat her body like it's the most interesting thing in the room because it is, and because there's no attention left over for grading yourself when you're that busy. Then say what you notice out loud. You just got quiet. Your whole body moved when I did that. You taste

Move 2 Read Her

SPEAKER_00

incredible. Narrating what she's doing forces your attention outward and pins it there. And it lands on her as presence, which relaxes her, which relaxes you. This is also where a toy earns its place, and not for the reason you'd assume. Put a vibe in play. The firm tech ring me rides on your finger so you can run it on her while your mouth is working somewhere else. What that does for your head is the actual point. It gives your hand a job, it gives your eyes something to watch, and it produces an immediate, obvious reaction from her that has nothing whatsoever to do with your erection. That's a steady stream of proof that this is working. And proof is what the loop can't survive. Once you stop standing over your erection, with a clipboard, it very often shows back up on its own. Not because you fixed it, but because you stop strangling it with attention. Arousal is a passenger. Give it something to respond to and quit checking in on it. Most trees say it out loud. There is one sentence that drops the pressure in the room instantly, and it's the last thing you want to say. The story in your head says admitting you're nervous makes it worse, that you'll lose interest, that saying it out loud makes it real. So instead you go quiet, you go tense, and you try to power through while pretending nothing's happening. Here's what she's experiencing on the other side of that silence. You got quiet, you got stiff, you stopped looking at her. She has no idea it's anxiety, so she fills in the blank with the worst option possible. He's not into me. I did something wrong. He's somewhere else. Now she's anxious too. The room goes cold for both of you, and you're managing your fear plus her withdrawal. One sentence takes it all down. I'm in my head right now. It's got nothing to do with you. Can we slow way down? Watch what that does. It tells her she isn't the problem, which is the only thing she was actually worried about. It kills the performance because now you're

Move 3 Say It Out Loud

SPEAKER_00

not maintaining a front on top of managing anxiety. The truth is out and nothing bad happened. And it gives you both permission to stop chasing outcomes, which is the precise condition your body needs to work. Men who never say it stay stuck here for years, sometimes decades. Men who say it once usually find out it was never remotely the big deal to her, but it was to them. And I'll tell you what it reads as from where she is lying. Not weakness. It takes a settled, secure man to say the truthing out loud in bed. And women can tell the difference immediately. Move four is take the goal off the table. The pressure isn't coming from the sex, it's coming from the past fail test. You build on top of it, and you can take that down tonight. Here's how you built it. If penetration is the finish line, then your erection is the ticket to entry. And every second becomes an audit of whether you've still got one. That's the whole demand. And since you built it, you can dismantle it. So dismantle it. Decide before anything starts that penetration is optional tonight on the menu, not the destination, and say it out loud to her. Then remember the thing you know and keep forgetting. Sex was never just penetration. Your mouth is intimacy. Your hands are intimacy. A toy is intimacy. Her writing your thigh is intimacy. And most women don't reliably finish from penetration alone anyway. So the act you're panicking about isn't even the one that gets her there. And this is where the other half of the pressure comes down. The half almost nobody names, because it isn't only what if I lose it, it's also

Move 4 Make Penetration Optional

SPEAKER_00

what if I can't get her there too. Two fears, and for a lot of men, the second one is heavier. So take it out of play. This is where the ringmate does its real work. Clipped onto a ring during penetration, it sits right where her clip meets you and delivers steady stimulation on every stroke. Off the ring, it's a finger vibe. You can use it on her anytime in any position, whether or not penetration is happening at all, which means her orgasm no longer relies on your erection. It doesn't matter what your body is doing tonight. She can get everything she wants from your mouth, your hands, and that toy. And the second her climax stops depending on you being hard, being hard stops being a test. Now, run the night that way on purpose. Go down on her with no expectation of what follows. Use your hands, use a toy, take penetration off the table for the first half hour deliberately, not as a workaround, as a choice. And here's the irony: every man discovers doing this. Somewhere in the middle of not trying, it works. It never needed willpower. It needed the pressure gone. Move five is take the question off the table. Underneath all of this is one question running a loop. What if I lose it? That question is the fuel supply. Cut it off, and the loop starves. Some of that is just how you set the night up. Don't attempt sex at the end of a brutal day when you're running on fumes and cortisol. An exhausted body is an anxious body. Go easy on alcohol, which men reach for to calm nerves and which reliably makes the physical side worse. And don't let a stretch without sex turn into a stretch without touch, because the longer the gap, the more weight the next attempt has to carry. Then there's the variable itself. A cock ring slows the blood leaving your penis. So the firmness you build, you keep. But the real value here isn't the firmness. It's that there's nothing left to monitor. No monitoring means no spectatoring. No spectatoring means no adrenaline. The physical support requires the mental loop. That's the whole argument. And it's why this works for anxiety specifically

Move 5 Kill The Question

SPEAKER_00

and not just for blood flow. As you know, I recommend the firm tac-tech ring. Two things about it matter for this exact problem. It's a soft hook and loop rather than rigid. So you could put it on hard or soft, which means if you're in a dip, you can put it on right then instead of waiting until you're ready enough to use it, which is its own small humiliation. And it's built to be worn for hours. So you put it on before anything starts, and the question never gets asked. And it's the same ring doing the tracking I mentioned earlier. So the proof that quiets the story is coming from the exact thing holding you steady when you're in it. A ring is not the cure for anxiety. And if anxiety is following you around outside of the bedroom, too, a therapist is the real answer. But for a lot of men, a few nights in a row where nothing goes wrong is enough to break the pattern. And this is how you stack them while the other four moves do the deeper work. One last thing to know past 40. U erections are a vital sign. Urologists call the penis the canary in the coal mine because health changes, specifically cardiovascular changes, show up there years before they show up anywhere else. So if you're trekking and something looks off, that's not a reason to panic. That's a reason to talk to your doctor early, which is exactly when it's worth doing. So here's your reset. Crowd the thought out with her. Read her instead of reading yourself. Say the one sentence out loud, take the goal off the table and take the question off the table before it ever gets asked. None of this asked you to perform better. It asked you to stop performing, which was always the only thing that was going to work because your body was never the problem, was doing what anybody does under pressure. Take the pressure off and it comes back. And hold on to this one. She's not lying there grating you. She's not comparing. The thing that makes a man extraordinary in bed has almost nothing to do with a reliable erection and almost everything

Erections As A Health Signal

to do with being present, paying attention, and not being the least bit afraid of her body. You can do all three of those tonight. Whatever else is going on.
